Every U.S. state runs a free early intervention program for babies and toddlers from birth to age 3 who have, or may have, a developmental delay or disability. It is part of federal law (Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act).
Who can refer a child?
Anyone. Parents can call their state program directly, and no doctor’s referral is needed. The program will set up a free evaluation.
What services are offered?
Depending on your child’s needs, services can include speech therapy, occupational and physical therapy, developmental therapy, feeding support and family coaching, often delivered at home or in childcare.
